Cavatine

Saint-Saëns, arr. Coy

Trombone and Orchestra

My full orchestra version of Saint-Saëns's Cavatine (available through the Cherry Classics catalog) occupies a special place in the trombone repertoire. The Cavatine is one of the only pieces for solo trombone written by a major Romantic era composer, and it is correspondingly popular. However, the lack of a large ensemble orchestration has limited the environments in which it can be played. This publication liberates the piece and allows it to be performed in any context the soloist desires. I have also written an arrangement for symphonic band.
