The DeKalb Municipal Band’s summer concerts were, like everyone else’s, cancelled due to COVID19 concerns. They decided to hold a Facebook live stream in place of their first concert and limit the number of musicians involved to try and keep everyone safe. For this event, they asked me to write a fairly true-to-the-original brass quintet arrangement of John Philip Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever. They allowed a drum set to cover the percussion parts, and asked that the piccolo solo be kept on an actual piccolo. I have also included a copy of the piccolo solo transposed to Bb in case your group prefers to have it covered on a trumpet or piccolo trumpet.
